Overview
Adrenalin was engaged by the NSW Government Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) to develop and implement an innovative online Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) aimed at enhancing child safety practices across child-related organisations. This project is a core component of OCG's commitment to improving the safety of children in various institutional settings. The primary objectives of the project were to deliver a best-in-class digital platform that provides an exceptional online assessment experience while offering organisations and institutions valuable insights to target capability building and enhance their child-safe practices.

Seamless & Intuitive UX
At the heart of the SAT project was a user-centric approach, ensuring that the tool was both intuitive and engaging. Our UX and UI teams conducted extensive user testing to gather feedback and refine the platform’s design. Prototyping was key in this phase, allowing us to iteratively improve the tool based on real user interactions. The result is a visually appealing and user-friendly interface that optimises engagement and ensures a seamless user experience across desktop and mobile devices.
Intelligent business logic and solution design
The SAT incorporates sophisticated business logic to guide users through the assessment process efficiently. We designed an intelligent questionnaire that adapts based on predefined sector classifications and organisational demographics. This tailored approach not only enhances the relevance of the questions but also ensures that users receive personalised action plans. The solution design focuses on providing actionable insights and resources, helping organisations improve their child-safe practices effectively.
Speed and user onboarding
Speed and ease of onboarding were critical factors in the SAT’s success. We ensured that organisations could quickly and easily register, complete the assessment and generate reports. The platform supports multiple entries for larger organisations, anonymous submissions from staff and the ability to complete the questionnaire in stages. These features, combined with a streamlined onboarding process, have significantly enhanced user adoption and engagement.
Data visualisation and reporting
Data visualisation was a cornerstone of the SAT project, with a focus on delivering easy-to-read, stunning reports. Leveraging Power BI, we created comprehensive dashboards that display real-time statistics, graphs and reports. These visualisations provide valuable insights into sector performance and areas for improvement. The SAT generates detailed self-assessment summaries and action plans, ensuring that organisations have clear and actionable steps to enhance their child-safe practices.
